Mrs. Sophia Brown
As a published children’s book writer and a dedicated Dyslexia Teacher in Plano ISD, I bring seven years of teaching experience to the classroom. My journey into education was preceded by a career as a clinical social worker. I hold a bachelor’s degrees in criminal justice and paralegal studies from Grambling State University, and a Master's Degree in literacy from Texas A&M University-Commerce. Currently, I am furthering my education through doctoral studies at Texas A&M University-Commerce, demonstrating my unwavering dedication to the field of education.
I was born in Tucson, AZ, but I call Charleston, SC, home. I am married and have three children: Briana, Bralen, and Jeremiah. Plus, we have our furbaby, Kingston. For decades, I have been dedicated to serving underserved communities by helping to empower and educate. My goal is to use literacy to improve outcomes within marginalized communities globally.
This year, I serve the Frankford & Carpenter communities.
